JackThreads Review: Three Things Make Them A No-Brainer
JackThreads was founded in 2008 and started as an invite only shopping community, giving away discounts and deals with flash sales. They sold mostly leftover clothing inventory that was acquired from over 1,000 different affiliates on the cheap.
While JackThreads had a pretty solid following, their growth stalled, the employees were embarrassed to work there, and their customer service left much to be desired (it was impossible to return anything).
In 2015 they realized it was time to rebrand and redesign their site. Instead of being known for their steep discounts, they wanted to be known as a customer-first business that focuses on giving men the best clothing possible. They made it easy to return items, reduced the number of brands on their site to just 75 and created their own private label products.
JackThreads is going hard after the men in the 18-35 age demographic. What kind of men? “Guy who cares about how he looks, but doesn’t want to try too hard,” is what their CEO says. This perfectly describes how I approach clothing, and it’s why JackThreads and I are the perfect fit.
Three things setting JackThreads apart:
- In May, they created a program called “TryOuts.” It’s brilliant. You can order as many items as you want without spending a dime. You try all the stuff out and let JackThreads know what you want to keep, then send back the items you don’t want in the prepaid mailer. Shipping is free both ways, so you have nothing to lose. Here’s the cool part: not only are you allowed to buy multiple sizes of the same item, you’re encouraged to. It’s all about getting the right fit. This brings the dressing room to your house. Two quick notes: 1. JackThreads takes your credit card information, but they won’t charge it until you tell them what things you want to keep. 2. You can’t wear the products and then send them back. You “try” them, decide what you like, then return the rest of the stuff in the same condition you received it.
- I don’t know anything about fashion, but I do want to look presentable. This is where JackThreads nails it, acting as your personal remote stylist. They pick out cool stuff and curate lists of clothes so you don’t have to. You can sort items by occasion, and they eliminate a lot of the guesswork by giving you a select few options. The chat isn’t run by bots, either; it’s real people who make suggestions based on what you’re looking for.
- The quality of their private label products is amazing. I wasn’t expecting that. I have two pairs of their denim jeans; they look great and they’re the most comfortable jeans I’ve ever worn. I’m also a huge fan of their crew neck tees. They’re only $12, but they’re the perfect fit, they don’t pill, and they’re very comfortable.
You’re getting stylish clothes hand-picked by the JackThreads curators. You’ll also get great quality and the perfect fit, totally risk-free. The only thing I’m worried about is that their TryOuts program may not stick; I hope it’s profitable for them and doesn’t go anywhere. If you sign up through my link you’ll get 20% off and I’ll get a JackThreads credit when you make a purchase. It’s mutually beneficial! (You don’t have to use my link, but it’d be awesome if you did. I want to get more clothes!)
